An atheist complained to a Christian friend, "Christians have their special holidays, such as Christmas and Easter; and Jews celebrate their holidays, such as Passover and Yom Kippur; Muslims have their holidays. EVERY religion has its holidays. But we atheists," he said, "have no recognized holidays. It's an unfair discrimination."
"What do you mean, atheists have no holidays," his friend replied, "People have been observing a special day in your honor for years."
"I don't know what you're talking about," the atheist said, "When is this special day honoring atheists?"
"April first."

That's good.
It's a little know fact that the US courts recognize atheism as a religion.

True. Not just atheism but also its more PC counterpart -- secular humanism: Secular Humanism in US case lawThe irony that atheism is a religious belief system is usually lost on atheists. But in my experience, agnostics understand that completely. They're just fence-sitters. Stray thought. Atheists and their fellow travelers have a 2nd holiday as well. May Day (International Workers' Day or Labour Day). Unlike religious holidays which celebrate goodness through worship and fellowship, May Day is known for its violent protests. 'Nuff said? /e

Smug atheists like to use this doctrine. Premise 1) There is a God. 2) God is omnipotent. 3) God can do anything. 4) God can not die.
Therefore God is unable to kill him self. Therefore the original premise is false. Therefore there is no God.
I think that atheists selectively pick item 1 as the false part of the premise but item 3 deserves significant attention. God cannot do anything that is evil?

It then falls to them to prove that God can not die. An assumption that they've not established factual material for. The arguement fails for the lack of evidence.
Here's my premise
An atheist is the proof God can have poor bowel movements.

I have studied the "religion" of Atheists and Humanists. I have come to the conclusion that people choose Atheism for perhaps the following reasons
1) they are tired of religious wars 2) they are tired of "religious" people demanding that their religion is the right one -- therefore, there has to be a war to "convert" those who are not part of their madness -- which is back to number 1 3) they are tired of a "god" who always says "he or she" is going to do something -- but then nothing is ever done -- it is always "someday" That is sort of like a "parent" that always tells their child "someday" you will have that nice shiny bike, but you have to do this, then this, then this, .... Broken promises, broken dreams sort of disillusions the "child". 4) everything has to be "faith" but "faith without works" is going back to number 3
Which brings me to the following conclusion:
The majority of people on this planet are "infants", "children", and "teenagers" when it comes to "religion". They are still in the Dark Ages and haven't moved much forward in 2,000 to 3,000 years or so. They cling to their religions and dogmas -- be it Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, etc. like children do with their "teddy bears" and "blankets". And, there are not so "innocent" children out there, too. Also, like children, they fight among each other who is going to get "Daddy and Mommy"" (God) attention. They flourish their religious war guns like teenagers in a paint ball gun fight.
Unruly children turn into ugly, unruly adults and they in turn teach their children the same old trite religious dogma. When Jesus said "be as children" to enter the kingdom of Heaven, I don't think he meant being a nasty child that takes temper tantrums.
Fortunately, there are good children that have survived these outworn, outdated modes of thinking about God and religion. The paintings of a child -- the link posted on another discussion -- is proof of this. So, there is a smidgen of hope for us.
And, the word "faith" is just a catchall word for Christians and other religionists that they don't understand the meaning of "energy" which is why there is a GOD. And the word "enlightment" for the Buddhists can be lumped in that one, too.
And atheists that claim that they are scientists forget one of the "basic tenets" within the teachings of science which is:
It is posited that all energy has existed in some form or another since the Big Bang. Energy does not just "die" but changes form.
Therefore, since, humans -- who are part of all creation -- are energy in this "Big Bang" never die, hence, humans just change form.
What I finally realized that "if" there is a GOD "he or she" must be sick of everyone's whining and wants everyone to grow up and be adults -- and talk to "him" as a normal adult person -- whether that is in spirit or in physical form. I decided that GOD wanted people who were not after the "gimme's".
