Had a chance to talk for a while with my sister recently. She told me about having attended sweat lodge ceremonies the last two months. Which led to her telling me about some native American religious topics. One of them has to do with the birth of white (not albino) buffalo as well as black buffalo. Both rare. And both significant to the Indians.
Here's a site she pointed me towards. Buffalo Messengers Home Page.
The home page has several links worth reading which are statements by various tribal elders and religious leaders about the births of the buffalo. But two pages in particular (aside from the synopsis about the buffalo births on the home page) are of interest, especially in the context of topics repeatedly discussed here: Signs of the end times, and free will.

There are many other strange events that have happened and continue to happen at the Woodland Zoo since the birth of the white male. Two red tail hawks, a wild mated male and female who live in the woods surrounding the zoo, turned white after the birth of the white buffalo. One day they were normally colored red tail hawks, the next day they were white. In the summer of 2008, the female hawk was struck and killed on the highway. In the fall the male choose a new mate. She also turned white.
In 2008, a white deer was born here at the zoo. This fawn would regularly escape its enclosure and would always be found with the white buffalo. The fawn continued to do this until it was too big to get out of its enclosure, and the white buffalo never once harmed it.
In the spring of 2007, a bald eagle came to visit the zoo. This eagle was witnessed by many people. As there are no known bald eagles in Pennsylvania, this was curious to say the least. The eagle flew directly to the white buffalo and spent the day with him.
