Something caught my attention when I was doing my Anthropology assignment last night, and that is the nature of the Neanderthals.
There's a lot of hustle and bustle going aboot, and since you've been Planetary Prince for a few hundred thousand years, I was hoping that you might be able to enlighten the rest of us a certain something -- the Neanderthal race(?)
I've heard various theories such as them being wiped out or just simply assimilating into the gene pool, but what would the truth be at?

The Neanderthal 'evolved' in Cromagnin (with a little help from friends)

The Neanderthal 'evolved' in Cromagnin (with a little help from friends) They always portrayed Neaderthals as 'grunting cavemen'. Scientists now know they had a gene (same one as ours) that gave them the ability for language. Now we know they loved poetry, sonnets, etc.

The neanderthal were much smarter than anthropologists give them credit for. Of course, these opinions are coming from grunting scientists

I was not expecting that in the least! Thanks for a great laugh!! The scientist are having to rewrite most of what they 'thought' about everything now that dna and genetics have come into play... before it was all guesswork.

The genus "homo" is about a million years old. Our evolutionary path is not as stair-stepped as it might seem.

I read somewhere a theory that the remnants of the Neanderthal are within the red-haired gene that is predominant among the Irish, Scots (Picts), etc.

Some years ago, I saw a educational channel bit about the development of man. An Anthropologist developed evidence that man had been here 1 million years and he was driven from his profession for being right.
Something to think on.
During the 50's - Jonas Salk was excoriated by the medical community for developing the vaccine for polo. He managed to endure - he also was right and saved millions of lives.
The wisdom of a moment can frequently become the idiocy of the future.
The wonders of 20/20 hindsight.
