well. . .
the thing has been sitting down there (at least one of them) for a long time, you know, over a decade; and noone, apparently has touched the thing. ,. . any and "all' deep sea-treasure-hunters should have pulled it up a long time ago by my reckoning.
but it is STILL THERE.
therefor the 'dark' was protecting, whatnot. . .till now. . .
...or...
the light has been allowing\protecting till now and\or continues to do so.

interestingly, they do appear very 'defiant-ish'.
