I don't know about you all, but I felt that Jim Lehrer was the real winner in the debate. He screwed with those two better than I could have possibly hoped for. True debate pits people against each other, it doesn't allow them to smile and pander to an audience. And in that sense, Jim Lehrer and the debate itself were the winners.

That last 'real' debate in this country was Kennedy/Nixon and JFK wiped the floor with him. These things are far from 'debates'

I was and at my age - wasn't in the least bit interested but the nuns in the school I went to were all a dither about the idea of a Catholic president.

The moderator of the Palin/Biden debate (an objective member of the press) has written a foo foo book on Obama that will be released on inauguration day.
Back in the 70's a book you've never heard of was released.
Why McGovern won the election and why the polls were wrong.
Nixon won in a landslide.

This one might be a laugh just like that one, then. I recall the pictures in the history books of that newspaper headline "Dewy Defeats Truman". Political situations can literally change overnight, and this kind of call is a gas.
