Well for a 100 an hour, I'll let you stick a finger in one of my 110 light sockets. For 200 an hour, you can use the 220 line. Paid in advance of course

Cal, What do you think that people like Travolta and Cruise are getting out of it since they already have everything that they could possibley want?

I wouldnt go so far as to assume they have "everything they want". It follows that what they want is a world wherein we are all conditioned with Audits, and that the CoS is in control of every institution. Apparently, they're well on their way.

One must remember what these guys (Travolta & Cruise) do for a living: They PRETEND. An actor has no sense of self importance, other than being a distraction from reality for the rest of us "real" people. Scientology gives them a chance to be a "real world" VIP. As church leaders, they are not constrained to discussing their most recent role-playing adventure, rather, they can now expound upon how integrally important their personal views are as they "lead" us poor "dumb masses" into the light of their gifted being. In other words, they are full fledged practicing ego maniacs. It's the court jester running the court. Trans

Here's a thought - what 'if' Scientology is behind or involved with the production of the movies that these guys work in? Hmmmm - does the picture take on a different hue?

Cal, What do you think that people like Travolta and Cruise are getting out of it since they already have everything that they could possibley want? A rich man may look like they have everything in the world you could possibly want. But if you were forced to give up everything you are, in order to get what they have, would you be so quick to agree? We are taught that our lives have little worth. Or that our lives are worthless unless we have X, or Y, or Z. But that isn't true. We just forget to appreciate what is truly ours. travolta and cruise both discovered, or rather I should say were recruited into Scientology at low points in their lives. Lagging careers, hectic and troubling private lives, and a lack of clarity in direction or anything to believe in. These things tend to make any of us vulnerable in some way, but in the 'what have you done for me lately?', isolated, extra-superficial land of Hollywood, being in such a state makes one the proverbial 'sitting duck'. They were approached by friends, and promised everything they felt missing. In Cruise's case, I think it was Travolta's ex-wife who initially convinced him. Reading accounts from former scientologists, they read like your average brainwashing\cult community. Social isolation, control and indoctrination, you eat sleep and live 'the Church'. It and its leaders become your primary influences. Your peers must all share in the beliefs, and beliefs aren't allowed to be questioned or examined, only followed. Not the first belief system to incorporate these methods for control of sentient beings, the main purpose seems to be attacking free-thought. Which should cause you to ask, 'what seems more important to the Church of Scientology?' What they claim to be important? Self sufficiency, responsibility, and improvement? Or control of its members, and consolidation of its power base? They go wrong in so many places. But I think their most obvious issue is that they make the church their main focus. Not the benefits, or the results, or the good works that come, or the hard work it takes. No salvation without the church. The 'gimmick' doesn't work without the church. You don't learn how to save yourself without first paying for the lessons of the church. If you fear for the state of your life/soul, you'd better not question the church. You'd better do the will of the church. Spread the gospel of the church. Protect the church. Preserve the church. The church, the church, the church.(Sound familiar?) The church becomes God, in a way, the only way for a living being to breathe the air or feel the sun on his face. The perfect scientologist to me, you would never know that person was a scientologist. You would only know that that person was of superb character. An exceedingly good person who spreads love into the lives of all around him. Like the song they taught me in school when I was young "And they will know we are Christian, by our Love". Like the perfect christian, you don't know he is good by the icons on his lapel, or the cross around his neck, or the words that he speaks. But by his actions, and to a lesser extent his beliefs.(Thats an old, old debate) The the most ironic part, or the saddest part i think, is that everything Cruise and Travolta claim the church has given them: family, career, direction, purpose, control. These are things you get from just living life, holding on when you feel despair, and having faith that things can get better. Instead they put all their faith in a magic pill, a placebo just so they could feel like the rest of us do.

cal,
you strike me as a fellow who knows better.(and proven it) One who would not want the aggrivation of throngs of runny noses and elbows, waiting for you to come zip their flies for them. Though i suspect, many of your accusers don't see the sense in that.

Money first, idolatry second? I don't know much about these guys except that they have a political correct, tax exempt? Vehicle to operate from. "IF" these two are exempt from taxes then their allegiance is bought and paid for. Charge it to da church visa card.

As I hear it Travolta is a real nice guy and they don't control the organization. In all likelihood, it is the organization that benefits from their high profile occupations and their tithing. They'd have to pay income taxes and wouldn't benefit from the 'church' exemptions.

Ab - Mel Gibson - Passion of the Christ?
For every Travolta you see - there are many more you don't see. The actors, as such, are success stories - but where are the ones who got raped of their money and reaped no reward? These you don't hear about. There was a fellow who angered the organization once, they responded by putting a rattlesnake in his mail box. There was a prosecution resulting from it as well - Los Angeles. Just the sort of thing you'd expect from a 'church' huh.
I know a fellow who left them (after 10 years) and he knew they'd come after him. So, he waited - with a shot gun. They came - he fired - they left and never came back. The shot was a warning - however this particular fellow wouldn't have a problem coming down on his target if he had to. He knew them and how they operated.

This goes back to the original point I was making, there seems to be something sinister beneath the facade along with the fact that they bilk people out of millions annually. "Church", gimme a break, I bet they have quite a bit in common with the church of Satan.

I still find it funny how Satan himself never gave a crap about what those people did.
