I'm in my third Alaskan winter and we are in the middle of the longest extreme cold snap since I've been here. Some locals are saying they haven't had one this bad since the late 70s. In the neighborhood of -45 F degrees for two solid weeks. It was so cold the oil and fluids in my truck froze earlier this week and it wouldn't start despite the engine heaters on it being plugged in all day. Ended up hiring a local fellow to come out with his 100,000 BTU heater under the engine and a tarp over the hood. Took several hours and 75 bucks to thaw it out enough to crank up but was far cheaper than having it towed to a shop and thawed out there and better than parking it until it warms up enough to thaw out on its own. Some places in the interior have been down to -60. We also had the coldest summer in several years. Never did get much above 65 for long.

Perhaps the increased carbon dioxide emissions from a bunch of whiny libs could help kick start the warming trend, but personally I find the cold preferable to having to listen to them. It'll warm up all by itself around April or so. ;D
